Hague’s history

Hague is a small rural town about 47 km north of Saskatoon along Highway 11. It began in the late nineteenth century as a Mennonite community, with farmers settling the fertile land in the area. More farmers came through the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The town has kept its tie to the farming community that started it. Twinning of Highway 11 between Hague and Saskatoon was completed in July 2011, and the town has been growing, helped by a cost of living lower than Saskatoon's.

Today Hague has a school, an arena with hockey and curling, a grocery store, a hardware store, a Credit Union, a post office, a restaurant, two gas stations and a vehicle dealership. NHL player Robyn Regehr wrote a letter to the NHLPA's Goals & Dreams program, and Hague received $30,000, which went toward a new ice re-surfacer.
